[13.08.2007] Minister At Opening Of Hotel And Fitness Centre In Kiulap

Bandar Seri Begawan - Hundreds of people including the foreign paparazzi thronged Kiulap yesterday for the opening ceremony of Palm Garden Hotel and Fitness Zone's new multi-storey fitness centre.

It was officiated by the chief guest; Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Pehin Major General (Rtd) Dato Hj Awang Mohammad bin Hj Daud

Also present was Brunei's rising star Wu Chun who is also the Chairman of Palm Garden Hotel and Fitness Zone.

The one-day event included stage performances, fitness activities and competitions. Meanwhile, the Palm Garden Hotel and Fitness Zone contributed $10,000 to the Pengiran Muda Mahkota Al-Mutahdee Billah Orphans Fund.

The minister said that efforts in providing fitness centres in the country are most welcome, as people of all ages are nowadays more aware about the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Furthermore, it also creates a healthy competition among entrepreneurs, where the prime objective is to create a healthy and fit society, he added.

"This is a valuable investment towards producing a physically and mentally strong society for the nation's development," said the minister who also welcomed the establishment of the new hotel in Kiulap.

Also present at yesterday's opening ceremony were dignitaries and high ranking officials including Pehin Kapitan Dato Paduka Gob King Chin; Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports Dato Paduka Hj Jemat Ampal; Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports Hj Ahmad Hj Abd Rahman; Yayasan Sultan Hj Hassanal Bolkiah Managing Director Dato Paduka Hj Ali Hashim; and, Brunei Tourism Chief Sheikh Jamaluddin.
